Computer Science is more into programming and stuff. Usually... Java, C, PHP, Flash, OOP and HTML are the usual focuses. It focuses on the the theories and SCIENCE behind a program or programming language.
Information Technology is more into running a business using particular programs. Usually it focuses on Network Administering and CISCO. They teach you on how to use the TECHNOLOGY for business.
Both are advantageous because the future are computers. Both are computer related. Just practical sense.
Both are a disadvantage as well because ofthe course's popularity. You will have job rivals... plenty of job rivals.
But if you hit the jackpot, like creating your own POS (Usually 100k~1m PHP or USD depending on company) or web designing (25k is the usual starting pay. Can reach 100k PHP or USD). You're good.
Anyway, these are just my insights.
No need to confuse them with other opinions.

When you plan to take that certain course, you must be competitive.

As Mod Ephe said,
Computer Science- is with science
Information Technology- Technology only.
But i think Information is better.

i am still confused?
i think im gonna stay with com sci?
they say com sci is the future.
any comments?

well i would much prefer IT when you're into not nerve-racking activities.. but i guess it not that hard if you really like it.. kasi ako, gusto ko talaga mag.IT but unfortunately, the university where i study in doesn't offer any IT courses(* I KNOW ITS LAME *)
when it comes to job opportunities, both of the courses have the same *in-demand* effect ![;]](img/smilies/wink.gif)
soooo...it really is up to you, computer science is really about programming,.
if you want to learn web designing, then IT's the course for you...
*note:kung gusto mo sa UP ka magsstudy, then forget ever taking up IT...

Course:
I.T. = Business /Work
Computer Science = Work
School:
Try AMA

Uhm, for me, I think Computer Engineering is better than the two.
|
I'm an IT graduate specializing in web development...
the difference between the two is this:
IT focuses on basic applications of computer science & technologies for business practices. CS concentrates on improving that science and technology which in turn will benefit the IT people or the computer crowd in general.
IT people are often called jack of all trades since they are thought the basic principles of every/most aspects of computer technology. Like for example, they know the basics of programming, web technologies, troubleshooting, hardware etc. They take the whole of computer science into a much broader field. However, that really doesn't stop an IT practitioner from specializing into one field. Since they have learned the basics, they can now venture deeper into a specific field if they want to but maybe out of the curriculum scope already (self study).
CS on the other hand does not take the broader concept path. CS specializes on a specific field from the beginning. In most cases/schools here in the Philippines, they take on programming. But it can be any specific field like robotics, web development, banking and finance, etc.
In a more simple explanation,
CS makes the dough. And IT decides what kinds of bread can be done with the dough
I hope you got the differences clearly with my (a bit long) explanation and in turn, decide which path you will take properly.
In my humble non-biased opinion, I love IT since it's more flexible in the long run on which field of study I'll take on for real-life work. But anyhow, they both are still the leading "most" profitable courses in the industry today. Nurses may lack demand, but IT/CS will always be around
*just my two cents worth

Both of them have their own specializations. Im an IT student and its really hard.
Because we both focus on hardware and software. While CS students deeply focus on
software (esp. programming) . So I think both are ok. But now, for me, I love being
an IT student although its frustrating.

I have now a plan, and I choose "Computer Engineering".
