even invented his OWN camera that can work with computer generated people with real life characters at the same time. He certainly knows how to make a movie. Avatar isn't the best but it's surely one of the best.

guess when ppl watch a 'popular film' they almost always tell u it's 'really good' so that they'll look 'cool' and 'relevant'.
as always.. spoiling the fun

Titanic is number one for 15 consecutive weeks. Avatar is for 7 weeks cause
@Weekend Eight
The magic could only last for so long. Facing off against Channing Tatum — who won big at the box office last year with "G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra" — and "Dear John," "Avatar" fell nearly 25 percent for a weekend total of $24 million. Finally, the country had a new #1.
Some other trivias --
> James Cameron originally planned to have the film completed for release in 1999. At the time, the special effects he wanted increased the budget to $400 million. No studio would fund the film, and it was shelved for almost 10 years.
> James Cameron disclosed on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" (2009) that he began working on preliminary drafts of his movie as early as 1995. Because his visual concepts were so avant-garde, the technology required to consummate his vision was not then yet available. Not until 2005 was he able to proceed with viable script scenarios.
> "Avatar" is Sanskrit for "incarnation". It is used extensively in Hindu scriptures to refer to human incarnations of God.
> The film became the highest-grossing film of all time on January 26th, 2010, with a worldwide gross of US US$1,858,866,889. The previous record-holder was Titanic (1997), with a worldwide gross of US US$1,843,201,268.
> The actors playing the Na'vi had cameras attached to their head so that they filmed close-ups of their faces. Dots painted on their faces allowed motion-capture software to record their facial expressions, providing a 'framework' from which the CG artists worked.
It takes such hard work. James Cameron is officially my role model. Such a perfectionist

^ Yep they don't know how much Cameron gets involved in EVERY detail of his movies. From producing, writing, editing & directing. He pretty much does everything, He goes beyond the limit. He wont stop until gets whats in his mind. Pure genius

Another trivia ; Cameron drew the portrait himself in the movie Titanic

@Chan:
Haha nice in cropping the picture.
I soo agree. The way EVERY single little thing in Avatar is so perfect, it just wows me. And in Titanic, like dude. My God, you know how hard it is to sink a boat in a set? Like, seriously. I mean he may be "a nightmare" to work with, but hey, they're ALL earning money for the purely amazing work he does.

^ Yep Exactly!
"Previous films about the RMS Titanic shot water in slow motion, which did not look wholly convincing. He encouraged them to shoot their 45-foot (14 m) long miniature of the ship as if "we're making a commercial for the White Star Line". Afterward, digital water and smoke were added, as were extras captured on a motion capture stage. Visual effects supervisor Rob Legato scanned the faces of many actors, including himself and his children, for the digital extras and stuntmen. There was also a 65-foot (20 m) long model of the ship's stern that could break in two repeatedly, the only miniature to be used in water. For scenes set in the ship's engines, footage of the SS Jeremiah O'Brien's engines were composited with miniature support frames and actors shot against greenscreen. To save money, the First Class Lounge was a miniature set incorporated into a greenscreen backdrop"
Too genius. Beyond perfection.
